Head coach Marian Marinica has named a 23-man squad for the Four Nations International Tournament 2026 set to take place in Francistown, Botswana later this month, with several notable omissions and a few surprise selections drawing attention from fans.

The tournament, scheduled for March 28 to 31 at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium, will see the Zimbabwe national football team competing against regional opponents as part of preparations for upcoming international assignments.

However, the biggest talking point in the squad announcement is the absence of in-form midfielder Marshall Munetsi, who has recently been enjoying a strong run of performances at Paris FC following his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Munetsi has been among the goals in recent matches for the French side but did not make the final Warriors selection, with no official explanation provided.

Another notable exclusion is reigning Soccer Star of the Year Walter Musona, who also misses out on the travelling squad.

Despite concerns from some supporters about his recent club form, captain Marvelous Nakamba has been included in the midfield department and is expected to provide leadership and experience to the squad.

Up front, the Warriors will rely on several attacking options including Tawanda Maswanhise of Motherwell FC, veteran forward Knowledge Musona, Prince Dube, Daniel Msendami of Orlando Pirates, Macaulay Bonne and Thando Ngwenya.

The defence features experienced campaigners such as Teenage Hadebe and Gerald Takwara, alongside Munashe Garananga and Emmanuel Jalai.

Goalkeeping duties will be handled by Elvis Chipezeze, Future Sibanda and Marley Tavaziva.

Midfield options include Nakamba, Jonah Fabisch, Panashe Makarimimbi, Prosper Padera, Bill Antonio and Sean Fusire.

The Four Nations tournament is expected to give Marinica an opportunity to assess combinations and build cohesion within the squad as Zimbabwe continues rebuilding its national team setup.
