Dynamos Football Club have suspended head coach Genesis Mangombe with immediate effect pending investigations into a series of alleged misconduct charges, including insubordination, forcing players to participate in juju rituals, match manipulation and bringing the club into disrepute.
In a suspension letter issued by the club’s board of directors, Dynamos said the decision followed numerous complaints and allegations raised by players and concerns over Mangombe’s conduct towards members of the club’s executive committee.
The club alleges that during a post-training technical meeting at Glamis Arena on June 18, Mangombe was confronted over complaints from players, including goalkeeper Idrissou Nfor Finia, who reportedly accused the coach of forcing players to bathe in juju before matches.
According to the letter, similar allegations had previously been raised by other players and senior team members, who claimed that players who refused to participate in the rituals risked being left out of matchday squads.
Dynamos also accused Mangombe of withholding playing kits from certain players and handing them back shortly before matches following alleged juju rituals.
Among the most serious accusations are claims of match manipulation. The club alleges that Mangombe was involved in influencing match outcomes, including games against Scotland FC, Highlanders, Hunters and CAPS United. These allegations remain under investigation.
The suspension letter further cites alleged violations of Premier Soccer League regulations, failure to submit mandatory post-match reports to the club’s chief executive officer and conduct that allegedly brought both Dynamos FC and Zimbabwean football into disrepute.

During his suspension, Mangombe has been relieved of all coaching duties and is barred from attending training sessions, matches and official club events. He has also been instructed not to interfere with investigations or communicate publicly on the allegations.
Dynamos said investigations would be conducted in an impartial and transparent manner, adding that additional charges could be brought depending on the outcome of the inquiry.
Mangombe has not yet publicly responded to the allegations.
