HARARE – Cimas Health Group has opened registrations for the third edition of its flagship digital health innovation challenge, the Cimas Healthathon 3.0, with a call for Zimbabwean innovators to develop practical technology-driven solutions that address challenges facing the country’s healthcare sector.
Running under the theme “Reimagining Healthcare Through Disruptive Innovation,” the competition seeks to bring together innovation hubs, startups, university technology teams, software developers and product innovators to create solutions capable of transforming healthcare delivery in Zimbabwe.
The Healthathon aims to address key challenges affecting the healthcare ecosystem, including fragmented health data systems, limited access to healthcare services, inefficiencies in service delivery, low uptake of preventive healthcare and gaps in patient experience.
Participants will be required to convert their ideas into workable minimum viable products that demonstrate practical application and the potential to improve healthcare access, affordability and overall service delivery.
Cimas Health Group said the initiative forms part of its broader commitment to leveraging technology and innovation to strengthen healthcare systems and improve health outcomes for Zimbabweans.
The challenge will provide innovators with an opportunity to showcase their technical capabilities while contributing solutions to some of the country’s most pressing healthcare problems.
To encourage participation and reward innovation, Cimas has set aside a total prize pool of US$7,000. The winning team will walk away with US$3,500, while the first and second runners-up will receive US$2,000 and US$1,500 respectively.
Beyond the cash prizes, the competition is expected to provide participants with exposure to industry experts and opportunities to further develop solutions that could potentially be adopted within the healthcare sector.
Applications for the Healthathon 3.0 are open until July 12, 2026.
