ZNA Joins Police in Manhunt as Guruve Gripped by Fear

Guruve has been placed under tight security following the deployment of the Zimbabwe National Army to assist police in tracking down a suspect linked to a wave of killings that has shaken the district.

Security forces are searching for 32-year-old Anymore Zvitsva, who police believe is connected to a series of murders reported in and around Guruve since mid-December. Investigators say at least 12 people have lost their lives, among them elderly residents, women and young children.

The case has sent shockwaves through local communities, with residents reporting sleepless nights amid widespread anxiety. Fears have been compounded by claims circulating in the area that the suspect may be targeting specific individuals, though authorities say such information is still being assessed.

In response to the growing panic, joint police and military patrols have been intensified, with roadblocks, stop-and-search operations and increased surveillance now in place across Guruve and nearby areas. The latest security push follows recent killings that further alarmed residents and prompted calls for stronger intervention.

Police have announced a cash reward for information that could lead to Zvitsva’s arrest, but authorities say no reliable leads have been received so far. National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi warned that anyone who assists, shelters or withholds information about the suspect will face severe legal consequences.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant, cooperate with security forces and take precautionary measures as the manhunt continues. Authorities say the joint operation will remain active until the suspect is located and arrested, with the aim of restoring calm and ensuring the safety of communities in Guruve.
