Discovery Ambulance Brings Hope to Chipinge Boy

A 12-year-old boy from Mutema–Panganai Village in Chipinge has been given a new lease on life after undergoing successful hernia surgery in Chitungwiza, courtesy of Discovery Ambulance Services through the Presidential Emergency Medical Scheme.

The boy, Perfect Mashapa, had endured severe pain for over a year while his father, Jasper Mashapa, an unemployed parent of six, desperately sought help. Local clinics could only refer the family to hospitals they could not afford, leaving the young boy without treatment.

The breakthrough came when local councillor Jenepha Dzambo highlighted the case to constituency leaders, prompting Discovery Ambulance Services to intervene and arrange the operation.

In addition to assisting the Mashapa family, Discovery Ambulance extended its support to the community by hosting a free medical outreach on Saturday at Tanganda Primary School in Ward 4B, Mutema–Musikavanhu Constituency. Partnering with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, they offered villagers free screenings, consultations, and medication.

The outreach coincided with a ZANU–PF inter-district meeting addressed by Provincial Chairman Cde Tawanda Mukodza and Chipinge DCC Chairman Cde Themba Mnaiwa.

Speaking during the event, Discovery Ambulance Services founder and CEO, Cde David Munowenyu, reaffirmed their mission:

“We are committed to ensuring that no Zimbabwean is left behind when it comes to emergency medical care.”

For the Mashapa family, this act of kindness brought immense relief. “My child was in pain for so long. We had no help until Discovery came. I’m grateful he is finally healed,” said a tearful Jasper.
