ZIMDANCEHALL musician Romeo Antony, popularly known as Shinsoman, and four others have been fined US$200 each after admitting to charges of smoking dagga.
Antony (37) appeared before a Mbare magistrate alongside Themba Sibanda (26), Shumba Tendai (43), Kennedy Simbanegavi (37) and Cosmas Muzanzi (41). The matter was heard by magistrate Rangarirai Gakanje.
Each of the five was fined US$200, with a default sentence of four months in prison. They were also sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
According to the State, the offence occurred on January 5, 2026, at around 6:30pm when detectives on a follow-up operation spotted the accused standing near a parked Mercedes-Benz. The five were allegedly seen passing around a cigarette suspected to be dagga.
Detectives approached the group, identified themselves by producing their identity cards and seized the cigarette, which was found in Antony’s possession.
The five were arrested and taken to CID Drugs and Narcotics together with the recovered dagga for further investigations.
They all pleaded guilty to the charges, leading to their conviction and sentencing.
