Government has split the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development into two separate portfolios in a move aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery.

In a statement, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa announced the restructuring, which will see the creation of the Ministry of Lands and Rural Development and the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Water Resources Development.

Vangelis Peter Haritatos has been appointed Minister of Lands and Rural Development, while Anxious Jongwe Masuka will head the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Water Resources Development.

Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Martin Rushwaya said the appointments and reassignments take immediate effect in terms of Section 104 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

The development marks a significant restructuring of one of government’s key ministries, with authorities indicating the move is intended to streamline operations and enhance focus across the two sectors.
